Heart Burn crafty Shenanigans

 I was at Michael's arts and crafts a while ago and while browsing the aisle, I came across this really cool iron-on applique by the Crafty Chica.  I've had it sitting around for a while because I am very capricious and I could never decide where or what to put it on.  

   Well today I decided to man-up and just do it already.  So I pulled out my favorite denim jacket and made a commitment.. and I'm totally happy with the result :) I just may start to make more commitments...

anyways...application was totally easy 

My jacket was already pre-washed because I have owned it for quite some time, but if you are using a new item, it is important to pre-wash the item to avoid the applique coming off when the article shrinks.   

I then placed the patch on my Jacket in the location I wanted.  After trying many places I decided on putting the applique on my right shoulder.  

After carefully placing the applique in the exact desired position, I covered the area with an old t-shirt and pressed  the applique onto the sleeve of my jacket, held it there for about 30 seconds, turned the sleeve inside out and repeated the process from the inside.

Et voila! A rad patch that gives any Jacket, hat, T-shirt, backpack or bag a gnarly customized look

Recently I had an amazing opportunity to dance with one of the most incredible dancers I have ever had the privilege to dance next to.  

I have taken from some extraordinary teachers with pretty awesome credentials and I will say Mark Kanemura is ranked right up there with the "Elites."

I would say that taking Mark's class was one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my dancing career.  Not to mention when I took his class I had just come off a two month European sabbatical. And by European sabbatical, I mean the sabbatical where I ate everything in sight (mostly carbs..soo yeah) and danced 0 days out of those 2 months while in Europe. Yes, that's right, I was SUPER out-of-shape when I decided to take an extremely athletic class.

 Anyways...

I was majorly slightly intimidated in the beginning but Mark made us all feel very welcome. He was surprisingly very humble and kind. And let me tell you, he has every reason to be cocky and full of himself.  He treated all the dancers with respect and humility which is, unfortunately, all too UNcommon when it comes to choreographers.  I can only hope to one day be a strong of a dancer as he.

And even with his success and talent he still makes it a point to keep it real.  I have met far too many demi-successful people who belittle and talk down to others in order to establish some sort of "dominance" and "superiority". In other words, they like to make themselves feel less insecure by tearing you and your talent down.

Besides learning an amazing, fun, exhaustingly brilliant routine, I took so much more from that class: Treat people with respect and dignity because we are all people no matter what color, upbringing, language, dialect, hairstyle, talent level or amount of success.  Each person has a heart that beats just like yours and mine (unless they have an arrhythmia or something....then it's different....but still the same....I have trouble staying on point).

So, if you are someone who has been made to feel inadequate or belittled by someone you know, it's time to remove that person from your life... break free from their hold because all that negativity gives them control over you and holds you back from achieving your full potential. 

AND, if you are one of those people who is so unfulfilled and insecure about your own existence that you feel the need to tear others down in order to make yourself feel like you have accomplished something in your life STOP.  You will NEVER get to where you want to be by hurting others...you will just end up alone and bitter while life moves on all around you.

Can you tell that I've had absolutely NO personal experience with this at all? *SARCASM*

Love is Lame

So rumor has it that today is Valentine's day. Ya know, if the 5 billion pounds of chocolate, dozens of red roses (most of them being sold by sun kissed Mexicanos on street corners) and all the ooey gooey lovers didn't give that one away. In not going to say I'm bitter or anything (kind of) but even when I was in a relationship on valentines day, I never really could get into it. It's just so cliché. If you are a guy and you REALLY want to impress a girl, treat her like it's Valentine's day everyday. Not just one a year. In the famous words of the dude currently standing next to me " it's just another day bro, there are 364 days just like them" -- he's obviously not taking into account a leap year. Gosh--- anyways. Life is far too short to wait for one day a year to tell someone that you love them and to show that you care. That's not love. That's stupid high school stuff. That kind of "Love" is LAME

CHA cha Creative Shenanigans

      So a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the annual CHA (Craft and Hobby Associations) convention in Anaheim, California.  This place was seriously an artist's DREAM! So many new products aimed at bringing the arts to the masses.
      There were business seminars, workshops, make-and-take booths where one could sample products (then take them home<--my favorite part) and hundreds of vendors from all around the world!
 One of my absolute favorite booths/vendors was the iLoveToCreate booth.. It was so colorful and the people were so friendly and helpful.
     Every corner of the booth, from the Betsy Johnson painted mannequins, the AMAZING drool-worthy wall of paints, the dope body painting to the Crafy Chica display was full of vibrant colors and  TONS of creativity.  It was such an amazing experience.
